The Fischbach local mountain is a popular hiking destination for young and old alike: a quick one-and-a-half-hour summit tour or the larger Teufelstein loop - many variations are possible.
The term Teufelstein refers both to the mountain in the Fischbach Alps and to the three large, stacked boulders at the summit. These three boulders are widely known as "Teufelstein." With a height of about 6 meters, the three rocks offer a great view of the surrounding Alps and towns.
From a geological perspective, however, the three boulders are the result of weathering. Often, harder rocks persist longer than their surroundings, which is why such rock formations are not uncommon, particularly in the Eastern Alps. Nonetheless, the stone likely served as a calendar stone because the rock is flatly hewn on two sides.
