We take the gondola to the top of the Markbachjoch (1500 m) and enjoy magnificent views of the majestic Wilder Kaiser Mountains. Our walk takes us over high meadows, summer home to hundreds of cows. The Holz Alm or Cheese Farm offers a fascinating insight into the dairy and cheese making art with guided tours on Tuesdays. The delicious cheeses are on sale (find out more about the guided tour at the Tourist Office). We continue past the tiny Horler Stiegl chapel around the Rosskopf Peak. The breathtaking panorama has to be enjoyed at leisure and where better to appreciate the views than at one of the quaint huts where delicious dishes are cooked daily. From here we meander back to the Markbachjoch Gondola for the return journey back to Niederau.
