Track chracteristics:
Those who love cross-country skiing will also love the high plateau of the Region Seefeld. The region stands like no other for a unique cross-country skiing experience through untouched nature. The five villages are connected by an extensive network of cross-country trails and endurance cross-country skiers can get to know it on this unique circuit. The route leads from Seekirchl to Wildmoos through eventful woodland, runs through the scenic Leutasch Valley for its entire length, makes a loop on Bavarian soil (depending on the snow conditions, you may have to hike here) and finally returns to Seefeld via Scharnitz.
Description of direction:
Start & Finish: Seekirchl Seefeld, not far from the Seefeld Olympic swimming pool with parking, showers and toilets; or Seefeld Sports Arena
We will then start on the B1 cross-country ski run from Seekirchl to the Seefeld Sports Arena. There for a challenging ascent through a small wooded area to the Seewaldalm. Continue in the direction of Mösern, cross the main road via the subway and now walk back along the B1 on the other side of the road until shortly before the overpass at the Seefeld Sports Arena. Turn left onto the black C1, a short steep section through the Kirchwald forest and continue on the C2 Waldloipe to Wildmoos.
After the challenging ascent, the rustic Wildmoosalm (1,338 m) is a good place to take a break. Then take the B3, C11 (Lottenseehütte) and C6 to Buchen. At the cosy Ropferstub'm change to the B5 and ski through the Katzenloch to Moos. With the entrance on the A5, the scenic route through the wide Leutasch valley begins. The route is less demanding here, instead the spectacular natural scenery comes to the fore. You can then enjoy the change to the A6 via a subway at Obern and walk through the picturesque Leutascher Aue to the Erlebniswelt Alpenbad Leutasch.
There you change back to the cross-country track and the other side of the road, first taking the A7 to Ahrn and then the A9 along the turquoise blue Leutascher Ache. At the Gasthof zur Mühle in the Leutasch Burggraben district, you take the A14 past the Leutascher Geisterklamm gorge and across the state border onto Bavarian soil.
Depending on the snow conditions, the 5 km long section near Mittenwald can be used as a cross-country ski run (Riedboden) or hiking section on foot along the Isar to Scharnitz, where the plateau circuit on the A12 begins its picturesque return journey not far from the parish church of Maria Hilf.
Shortly after Giessenbach, the cross-country circuit finally changes to the A11, runs as far as Bauernwald, takes the B9 past the idyllic Landgasthof Triendlsäge (with delicious Kaiserschmarrn!) and from there only a little further to the end point of the cross-country circuit at the Birkenlift in Seefeld. From here you can take the cable car via Geigenbühel to the starting point of the plateau circuit at Seekirchl.
Information:
If there is less ssnow, the 5 km long route in Germany must be walked or run. It is strongly recommended to take a pair of running shoes with you.
