From the bus stop, head into the valley past the car park behind Gasthof Feuerstein (1281m) and turn right directly at the valley station of the material cable car for the Innsbrucker Hütte. A short asphalt road leads across the Gschnitzbach stream and immediately afterwards, at the crossroads, turn briefly left (past the old farmhouse). Only about 60 metres further on, the hiking trail to the Innsbrucker Hütte goes up the edge of the forest on the right. After a few 100 metres, you cross a forest road and then go uphill in numerous serpentines, always in a steep gully. At an altitude of approx. 2020 metres, you reach the "breakfast spot" - a bench invites you to linger on this small plain. The trail continues over a plateau with a stream crossing. Shortly before the Innsbrucker Hütte, our ascent joins that of Gschnitz, then comes the turn-off to the Ilmspitze and a few metres before the hut we can see down from the Pinnisjoch into the Pinis and Stubaital.
Behind the hut (2370m) we take the right path (the Bremer Hütte is on the left). Now there is a short ascent, followed by a somewhat flatter ridge (Gedankstein) and then the first rope belays begin on the ascent to the Habicht. First the trail roughly follows the southeast ridge, then there is a flat traverse to the east side to the remains of the small glacier. There is a trail variant that leads to the summit completely free of snow. If you have to cross the snowfields (a little shorter), make sure that the conditions are suitable. The steep slope at the end of the snowfield does not allow any slipping. In a wide arc, the route leads to the east ridge and up it. The last metres to the summit are on the southern side of the ridge. The ascent from the hut is mainly between rocks and boulders, but is well marked.
The descent is identical to the ascent.
