Enthroned mightily in the south of Gastein Valley are the striking contours of the Graukogel. Easy with the Graukogelbahn up through the arolla pine forest to the summit station. Barely above the tree line, the path toward the summit begins – first bringing us to the Hüttenkogel. During the hike up, it is worth taking a break every now and then to turn around and look back – the views of Gastein Valley are magnificent. And once you reach the Hüttenkogel, the sight of the Tischler group and Reedsee is breathtaking. if you choose to carry on to the Graukogel, you will need to be sure-footed and have a good head for heights. The summit cross and finally, you have made it – the ascent was definitely worthwhile.
