After riding up on the Schlossalmbahn, our hike begins in the direction of the Brandner Hochalm. In this remote recess of the valley, we are impressed both by the virgin mountain wilderness as well as the avalanche blasting equipment next to the longest ski run in the Eastern Alps â which must be simply marvelous in winter as well. During a short break at the Brandner Hochalm, we are also able to catch a glimpse of two other huts with opportunities for refreshments â and theyâre not far away. Following the Leidalmbach, an old supply lane leads in the direction of the Neudegg Heimalm and Fundner Heimalm. The rush of this untamed mountain stream is a source of refreshment and inner harmony alike. Our valley descent takes us over the Vogeltenn to Bad Hofgastein. Alternatively, we might select an easier variant leading to the mid-station of the Schlossalmbahn.
