The start of the second stage is the half-timbered village of Veckerhagen. Also on this stage, the Reinhardswald Nature Park with the beautiful natural Olbetal invites you to immerse yourself in nature. At the legendary Sababurg, the famous Sleeping Beauty Castle, the second stage finish of the 225 km long Weserbergland Trail is reached. At the foot of the Sababurg, the zoo Sababurg attracts visitors as an excursion destination of this stage. Around 90 animals from 80 different animal species find a home here in the 130-hectare zoo. Bison graze here together with wild horses and deer. The prey bird station invites to exciting shows and even animals from afar, such as penguins, can be admired here. Next door is the Sababurg primeval forest, where the centuries-old Hute oaks known for the Reinhardswald can be admired.
