The Arndorf Prayer Chapel is one of the seven locations along the route "7 Places 7 Treasures," which connects the Burgthannerweg and the Kernkapellenweg, passing by 7 places that house 7 special treasures. All seven locations are linked to the renowned woodcarver Hans Pendl.
The Arndorf Prayer Chapel depicts a kneeling Christ on the Mount of Olives, intentionally not showing a crucifixion scene but rather a Jesus looking up at and accepting the cross. "I walk my path and will not be diverted." The chapel was designed by Karl Pfeifer, and Jesus was carved from linden wood from the nearby Arndorf forest by Hans Pendl. In Arndorf, formerly called Aribendorf, there has been a wayside shrine since 1755, and it is said that the Christianization of our area began here. In 2016, this original wayside shrine was demolished and rebuilt and inaugurated by the people of Arndorf with a lot of dedication and countless hours of work. The bishop's cross and the memorial to the fallen local residents were taken from the original cross and attached to the back of the new chapel.
