The Gradlspitz is a fascinating limestone mountain between the Wildschönau and Alpbach valleys. Not so long ago it was mined for silver and copper and the old Lehenlahn mine can be visited today. Our walk starts in Thierbach and takes us past the Klinglerhof Hotel and the Holz Alm hut up to the Gratlspitz Peak. We can see the remnants of the mining shafts. Alpine rhododendrons and mountain pine grow at this altitude. We reach the peak and enjoy views of the Karwendel and Ziller Alps. We take a rest stop at the Holzalm hut and return to our starting point. Walking Time: approx. 5 – 6 hrs Category C, 765 m altitude difference, 10.6 km Meet: 9 am in Mühltal to organise transfer to Thierbach. Possible taxi fare to Thierbach.
