Kötschachtal is one of four blind valleys in Gastein. Located at a higher elevation, it can be reached by bus or car. Setting out from the Grüner Baum, you will first hike along the road and into the valley to an area known as the Malerwinkel (literally ââPaintersâ Cornerâ, site of romantic old farmsteads), then to the breathtaking Himmelwand (towering crags of granite gneiss). You will follow a wide path through high forest, with glorious views of the Tischlerkar Group, and after about one hour you will reach Alpengasthof Prossau elev. 1,278 m.
