We perceive the landscape, the mountains and the valleys as unchanging and unchangeable features. However, on a geological time scale, it’s only a short time since everything was covered in ice. One day for humankind amounts to 1,000 years for the earth. Mountain ranges rose and landscapes were formed. However, traces of our earth’s past are visible everywhere we go. The book that tells the story of the history of our earth is one that unfolds right in front of our eyes - a story with innumerable fascinating chapters. Between 19th May and 7th July, and again after 22nd September, our Earth History Hike is devoted to the theme of the Ice Age. Through the eyes of a geologist, we can glean an understanding of rocks and landscapes. ‘Imaginative Geology’ is the motto of this hike. The scenically beautiful Puittal valley is the destination of the summer walking route of this intriguing geological hike. In addition to the traces of the past, we’ll also be exploring the world of flora, fauna and natural habitats here in the stunning Leutasch region.
