The start of this short but really lovely family tour is the mountain station of the Salvista gondola lift on the summit of the Kleine Salve. From there we walk to the highlight of the tour which can hardly be missed - the reservoir. Around the man-made mountain lake sunbeds and banks invite us to sunbathe and enjoy before we continue our hike. From the reservoir we follow the sign towards Rigi. Already after a few minutes in the shady pine forest we arrive at the Kälbersalvenalm where young cattle from Hopfgarten and the surrounding area spend their summer. We continue further on towards Kraftalm, walk past the technical centre of the cable car and then immediately left on the forest road and back to the mountain station.
TIP: it is absolutely worthwhile to make a detour to the mountain inn Alpengasthof Rigi with its one-of-a-kind panoramic terrace, The mountain inn can be reached from the Kälbersalvenalm in about 10 minutes
