The hike begins at the Tauernplatz hiking start point in the centre of Bad Hofgastein. First the trail crosses the centre, the spa gardens and the small village of Lafen, then we cross the Angerbach stream and walk to the Angertal railway stop. Here, the Tauern railway overcomes the deeply cut Angerschlucht gorge with a bold bridge construction. From the station we follow the road to Hartlbauer, then the trail leads over the south side of the Angertal into the forest. After an hour's leisurely hike, we reach the Angertal. It is highly recommended to continue along the forest path to the end of the valley.
