Wipptal - Gschnitztaler Hüttentour
This hut tour is certainly an insider tip among the multi-day high-altitude hikes, because you will still be able to enjoy the peace and solitude on the mountain most of the time. The tour leads in seven stages in a loop around the mountaineering village of Gschnitz, where you will spend the night in six different mountain huts.
The tour is classified as difficult (black-marked mountain trails) and has its starting and ending points at the Bergeralm Bergbahn parking lot in Steinach. With about 6,000 meters of ascent and descent and almost 54 km of trail, it represents a sporting challenge. However, you can shorten the round as you wish - there is an access or descent into the Gschnitztal to every hut.
Length: 54 km Duration: 6 or 7 days of 3 - 7 h walking time each Ascent: 6.000 m Descent: 6.000 m Highest point: 2.750 m Lowest point: 1.066 m Difficulty: Difficult (black marked mountain paths) - absolute surefootedness and no fear of heights required!
