Hochwildstelle

The long and demanding mountain tour to the highest, purely Styrian peak leads you as an experienced mountaineer at the beginning past the 3 lakes (Styrian Bodensee, Hüttensee and Obersee). This 4.5 hour mountain tour can be made much more relaxing and eventful by an overnight stay at the Hans-Wödl-Hütte directly at the Hüttensee. Trail no. 782 leads you over several rocky steps steeply up to the Neualmscharte. Directly on the saddle, the normal ascent leads to the left over the rocky ridge of the Kleine Wildstelle with a magnificent view. At the transition to the northwest ridge of the Hochwildstelle (Seewigscharte) caution is advised, because the short climb is exposed. After that, it goes in many hairpin bends over scree and some rock slabs to the summit. One can only rave about the view from the summit! Surefootedness and a head for heights required!
