This tour is ideal for leisure cyclists and dedicated cyclists alike. Leading along a tarmacked road in the beginning and on solid gravel ground afterwards it takes you to one of the most beautiful alpine pastures in Tyrol. Kelchsau is one of three side valleys of the Brixen valley and has been blessed with manifold alpine beauty which you will enjoy to the full during your ride. The tour starts at the tourist information office in Hopfgarten. Go through the railway underpass und turn left after the bridge following the sign to Kelchsau. Now go along that road until the toll booth where the road straight ahead leads to the Langer Grund valley (cycle path number 226) and the inn Gasthof Moderstock. On you go on gravel until the mountain hut Erler Brennhütte. Here it is advisable to recharge the battery of your bicycle while you enjoy the tranquillity and view of the untouched nature in one of the most amazing side valleys in the Kitzbühel Alps. Now you can go on via the alpine pasture “Erla” until Tiefental, the end of the valley. There the Tiefentalalm awaits you, a 500-year old alpine dairy farm which is one of the oldest and best preserved alpine huts in Tyrol. Try some of the home-made dairy products before riding leisurely along gravel back to Kelchsau .
