This impressive snowshoe hike leads from the Nature Park Info Center in Scharnitz up to the Pleisenhütte at 1,757 meters altitude. During the winter months, the hut is open on weekends (open continuously from December 26 to January 6). Overnight stays are available at this cozy mountain hut upon request.
The trail begins at the P2 hiking car park, right next to the Info Center, and follows Hinterautalstraße towards the Karwendel valleys. Above the Isarlodge Wiesenhof, the forest road branches off to the left, leading up to the snow-covered alpine meadows at Lablehner. After a relatively flat section, the path climbs steadily up a series of panoramic switchbacks to the Pleisenhütte.
At the top, the Gaugg family has been serving delicious spinach dumplings, hearty venison stew, and seasonal specialties from traditional cuisine for generations. The cozy panoramic terrace is also one of the sunniest, making it the perfect spot to linger a bit longer, enjoying coffee, homemade cakes, and the stunning winter mountain views.
