The hike starts in Sportgastein and leads either along the forest path or along the informative nature trail towards the end of the valley. Not far from the Genossenschaftsalm there is a striking wayside cross where you branch off onto the Peter - Sika - path. The trail now leads partly steeply uphill, past impressive remains of abandoned gold mining (ruins and collapsed tunnels) to the Knappenbäudelsee lake. Continue below the Knappenbäudelsee on the Peter - Sika path. Near the ski lift valley station (Schiedeck) the trail leads you back downhill to Nassfeld to your starting point.
