The centerpiece of historical retrospectives is the Weidelsburg, whose well-preserved ruins have much to tell us. The magnificent view of the historically significant landscape reveals the former strategic importance of the fortress. Knotty orchards on the slopes of the castle hill and young fruit orchards in the Elbe Valley entice with their variety of varieties.
The half-timbered backdrop of Naumburg vividly tells tales from the past and impresses with imaginative carvings. The Habichtswaldsteig leads up through old gardens and a magical forest to the edge of Burghain, where the castle once defied conquerors. Exciting stories await at the Weingartenkapelle with its Stations of the Cross, at the Bildstein as part of the Geopark GrenzWelten, at the basalt columns in the Weidelsberg quarry, and at the fairytale resting place "Junge Riesen" (Young Giants). On their tour through the Valley of Two Castles, hikers experience themselves as young or old, small or large, and always curious for discoveries.
