This trail run starts in Sportgastein and offers the perfect mix of speed, technique, and alpine history! The route begins either along the wide forest road or the informative nature trail leading toward the end of the valley â an ideal warm-up section.
Shortly after passing the Genossenschaftsalm, a striking wayside cross marks the turnoff onto the Peter-Sika-Trail. This is where the challenge begins: The trail climbs steeply, passing impressive remnants of the abandoned gold mining era â ruins and collapsed tunnels tell stories of the past. The route then leads into high alpine terrain toward the Knappenbäudelsee.
Below the lake, the trail continues along the Peter-Sika-Trail before transitioning into a fast downhill near the Schiedeck ski lift base station. The final descent leads back to Nassfeld, returning to the starting point â a diverse trail run with steep ascents, historical highlights, and smooth-flowing downhill sections!
