The run starts at the Alpenarena, leading through the spa park before heading uphill toward Schlossalm. Passing Hotel Goldberg, the trail first follows the bird-themed educational path. After a short downhill section, the trail veers right again.
Across meadows and trails, passing Mitteregg-Gut, the trail heads toward Angertal. Here, thereâs a short downhill section on asphalt, followed by crossing the AngertalstraÃe (Caution: road traffic!). The trail then turns right, heading down through Angerbachgraben, quickly veering right again, and reaching the Angertal Ski Center.
After a short flat section, the real challenge begins: 650 meters of elevation over a 4 km stretch up to Gadaunerer Hochalmen.
From here, it's 2 km and 160 meters downhill to the Rockfeldalm junction, followed by a short but steep climb to the alpine hut. The trail then turns right onto Kreilingersteig, heading toward Ochsenriedl. The trail continues to climb, passing the Schlossalm reservoir on the right, and leads to the highest point just below Mauskarkopf.
Now, itâs time to be a little more cautious: descend along the ridge, always with the beautiful Gastein Valley in sight. At the end of the ridge, a sharp turn to the left leads onto a flowing trail that descends toward Brandner Hochalm. After a short section on a forest road, take a left below the hut to continue on the trail toward Maurachalm.
A short section on the slope leads to the Aeroplanstadl, and the trail continues down the toboggan run to Hotel Goldberg. From here, itâs a return to the Alpenarena.
