Over 13 picturesque kilometers through the meadows and forests around Brunschkopf, this impressive leisurely hike visits several huts and, with some luck, the two rare, aperiodic natural phenomena of Wildmoos and Lottensee. A detour to Möserer See also rewards with a refreshing dip in one of the warmest swimming lakes in Tyrol.
Tip: You can access the hiking loop from the three villages of Mösern, Seefeld, and Leutasch. The following variant starts from Seefeld's Seekirchl and goes via Wildmoos. The loop is signposted in both directions and can be hiked from all three locations. With enough energy and motivation, you can also climb the Brunschkopf Viewing Platform from several junctions: From Seefeld via Geiernest, from Leutasch via Wildmoosalm, and from Mösern via the forest road or Möserer Höhe. There is also a marked trail from Wildmoossee to the Brunschkopf Viewing Platform.
Starting at Seekirchl, follow the signs toward Brunschkopf/Wildmoosalm, walk along the stream on the boardwalk until you reach the underpass. Head right uphill to the WM-Hall on Möserer Straße, turn right, and take the first left into Kirchwaldsiedlung. Now follow the road "Am Kirchwald", taking the first two lefts and then a right to switch to gravel path no. 2. Follow the forest trail uphill, and when you reach the loop trail around Brunschkopf, turn right (toward Wildmoosalm).
At the beautiful Wildmoosalm, most of the uphill sections are behind you, so you can enjoy a refreshing drink on the sunny terrace. The hut’s owner serves hearty meals with some witty remarks, and the schnapps fountain is a must. Feeling cheerful, continue on trail no. 2 to the aperiodic Wildmoossee (since it's not always there, you'll need some luck to see it filled with water).
Following the loop trail again (stay left), you may also encounter Lottensee – another aperiodic natural gem that loves to play hide and seek. Even if the lake isn't there, the cozy Lottenseehütte offers delicious homemade treats, and a fresh coffee and cake will motivate you for the next stretch.
At Lottensee parking lot (P4), leave the paved road, return to the forest path, and follow the relatively flat trail until the Mösern/Möserer Seestub’n junction. A final detour to the warmest lake in Tyrol is always a good idea, and the Möserer Seestub’n – with seasonal delights, lake views, and a beautiful forest playground – is worth a visit.
Then, at the junction, follow the signs back to Seefeld, stay right at the Geiernest junction, and return via Hörmannsweg and Kirchwaldsiedlung to the starting point at Seefeld’s Seekirchl.
