The beautiful tobogganing track to the Rauthhütte spans a challenging route of approximately three kilometers, conquering an impressive 420 meters of elevation gain. With an average gradient of 16.8%, it offers an especially demanding descent. The tour begins at the P18 'Munde' parking lot in the Moos district and is well signposted. Right at the starting point, the Mundestadl restaurant invites you to enjoy some regional delicaciesâperfect for fueling up before the climb.The ascent features some demanding sections, especially in the switchbacks, where you should watch out for oncoming sledders and hikers. After about 1.5 hours of hiking, youâll reach the Rauthhütte at an altitude of 1,605 meters. In the cozy stove rooms, you can warm up by the fireplace while enjoying hearty Tyrolean cuisine and regional specialties served by the hosts. Dogs are also warmly welcome! On clear days, the view from the top is breathtaking, with the Inntal valley stretching out below, the Zugspitze to the north, and the Zillertal Alps to the south.

Important note: Even for experienced sledders, this track is a challenge! For children, beginners, and family outings, we recommend the sledding tracks at Hämmermoosalm or Katzenkopfhütte instead.
Recommended equipment:
For this track, a sports toboggan and helmet are required. Multiple layers of clothing, warm gloves, a hat, and waterproof jackets and pants provide protection and comfort. Sturdy boots with good traction (for braking) are essential, while poles and crampons (spikes) can offer additional support during the ascent.
The Rauthhütte offers toboggan and sled rentals directly at the hut. Reservations can be made by calling +43 664 2815611 or via email at info@rauthhuette.at.
Additionally, sleds and toboggans can be rented from various rental points throughout the Region Seefeld.
Track conditions:
The tobogganing track is not groomed or checked daily, so usage is at your own risk. It is strongly recommended to check the current conditions directly with the Rauthhütte (+43 664 2815611) before heading out. The ascent is the best opportunity to assess the trackâif in doubt, itâs better to turn back. Note that the ascent and descent share the same trail, which is also used by winter hikers and snowshoe hikers, so be prepared for traffic in both directions.
