Am 1. Juni 1892 wurde der reguläre Betrieb der Schmalspurbahn Preßnitztalbahn aufgenommen. Sie führte für 23 km durch das Preßnitz- und Schwarzwassertal. Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts sorgte eine Ölkrise in der DDR dafür, dass die Stilllegung der Strecke beschlossen wurde.
