For centuries, Mary, the Mother of God, has been venerated at Pöllauberg. This pilgrimage church, founded by Katharina von Stubenberg, is one of the most magnificent High Gothic churches in all of Styria.
The generously designed church building was completed at the end of the 14th century. The Gothic bell tower was replaced by a new structure in 1678, and the tower dome was not built until 1744. In 1705, a new sacristy was added, and a few years later, two side chapels were included.
