Track Characteristics:
A spectacular cross-country skiing circuit through the Region Seefeld, starting directly from the summit of the Leutascher Katzenkopf. This round is something very special! The (free) ascent with the mountain railway saves you the strenuous metres in altitude and afterwards you can enjoy pure cross-country skiing pleasure.
Description of direction:
At the valley station of the small Katzenkopf lift there are plenty of parking spaces available, but you can also easily reach the starting point by regional public transport (Leutasch Weidach Kreithkapelle stop). The cable car makes the first ascent to the summit easier and can be used free of charge with a cross-country ski pass & cross-country skiing equipment.
Once at the top it is worth taking in the spectacular panorama from the Katzenkopfhütte (1,360 m) before the classic cross-country ski run (C4) takes you down the southern slope of the Katzenkopf. Above the Fludertal valley, the trail continues through picturesque woodland to the next cross-country ski run junction - here change to the C5 and continue through deeply snow-covered woodland to the Wildmoosalm (1,338m). Skaters can easily push these first two classic sections!
Around the Wildmoosalm you can take a nice, flat loop on the A3 cross-country ski run, before continuing over the Wildmoos plateau along the B3 and C11 to the Lottenseehütte.
The C6 and C10 now lead rapidly down to the Leutasch harlem of Moos. At the cross-country skiing car park you change to the A5 and glide effortlessly through the wide Leutasch valley. Cross over to the A6 at the crossroads and continue to the Alpenbad Leutasch. From there you can take the A10 to the Weidach bridge in Leutasch. A short walk (about 15 minutes) along the asphalted village road takes you back to the starting point at the Katzenkopf.
Information:
The last part from the Weidach bridge back to the Katzenkopf valley station must be covered on foot (asphalt footpath next to the main road).
