From Toldern, first of all, the route goes up the south side in a wide arc and then, above the cultivated slopes, around the valley basin to the hamlet of Glinzen, with a wonderful view of the Wildlahnertal with the Olperer and Fussstein. Via the valley floor and Hochmark you finally get back to the Wildlahnerhöfe and from there via the wooded north side up to the little pilgrimage church "Kalte Herberge". After visiting the church, which is well worth seeing, a forest path leads across the forest back to the starting point.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION From the parking area, first follow the main road out of the valley until you reach a road junction where there is also a holiday home on the right. According to the signs, pass the pasture fence and climb in northern direction over alpine meadows along the southern slope. After a short ascent the path turns right above the cultivated areas and leads almost without further ascent along the slope into the valley. First you pass Toldern high up, later you come closer to the hamlet of Glinzen, always with a great view of the mountain "Olperer". Finally, one reaches the end of the wide path and has to climb a serpentine road for a short time before the now narrow little path leads into a larch forest. Through the really beautiful light forest that probably once served as a larch meadow, one continues a little further into the valley until one again comes across to a grazed area and not much later to a gate that leads over a field down to a forest road. If you wonder where the road has gone - you are probably standing on it, because in this section it is a tunnel. The reaching of the forest road is also the innermost point of the round tour, now it goes again out of the valley. After a few hundred metres you reach the portal of the tunnel and after a few metres on the main road you turn left again towards Hochmark. Here you follow the road in a straight line and turn left again at the end of the road to the Wildlahnertal and its three farms. Following the asphalted road, you now have to find the little path which turns right from the road between the second and third farm and climbs up a steep slope to the pilgrimage chapel Kalte Herberge. Alternatively, you can follow the road to the Wildlahner parking area and here follow the somewhat flatter forest path up to the little church. The location of the Kalten Herberge is really beautiful and there is something mystical about it. Finally, the last section of the tour has to be mastered, over a forest path first in western direction to the end of the wooden tavern settlement and from there in an arc back to the parking. But those who prefer to walk on steep paths can turn right after a few metres at the forest path and follow the small forest path below the forest road.
TIP OF THE AUTHOR The hike can also be combined wonderfully with a visit to the old mill and the flower and herb garden opposite the "Olpererblick" inn.
