The Kitzbühel Ultra Trail starts in the heart of Kitzbühel's city center, featuring an impressive distance and elevation gain. This extensive loop around Kitzbühel and the holiday villages of Aurach and Jochberg covers all the classic spots in the Kitzbühel mountains. The route begins by passing Kitzbüheler Horn, then heads towards Bichlalm and further into the tranquil and secluded southern mountains of Kitzbühel. Along the way, you'll encounter peaks like Tristkogel, a coveted photo spot, and Geisstein, the highest grassy mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps.
From Geisstein, the trail offers incredible views of the Hohe Tauern as it leads towards Pinzgau. At Pass Thurn, cross to the opposite side of the valley, entering the KitzSki area with Resterkogel. The ridge continues to Kleiner Rettenstein, requiring sure-footedness, and over Schwarzkogel to the start of the legendary Hahnenkamm race. The final downhill section follows the path of ski stars along the Streif hiking trail, passing famous spots like the Mausefalle and Hausbergkante, returning to the starting point in Kitzbühel's city center.
The trail can be completed in one piece, or divided into two or three parts, offering a strenuous yet breathtaking experience.
