From Kitzbühel town centre, ride west past the Hahnenkamm car park and over the Schattberg mountain towards the Einsiedelei mountain inn, which is a great day-trip for families. Continue via Astenalpe and Melkalpe until you reach the Hahnenkamm mountain itself. For those who have not yet had enough after this climb, the route takes a right towards Ehrenbachhöhe, Hochbrunn and Jufenalpe up to Pengelstein at 1,938 m above sea level. Anyone keen to experience the Hahnenkamm in more comfort can ascend with their bike onto the Hahnenkammbahn cable car and start the trail from the mountain station.
