From the valley station of the Rofan cable car follow the forest road to the “Buchauer Alm” mountain hut. Continue to the “Rasthütte Mauritz” (not serviced, signposted). The steep trail on the right winds up to the “Mauritz-Niederleger” (dilapidated) and the distinctive avalanche barrier. At the junction turn right and walk through the forest and a grassy pit to the “Hubersteig” trail. The path gradually rises over steep gravel plains and finally you reach the trail to the summit of the “Ebner Joch” (signposted). The descent is possible via the “Astenenau Alpe” mountain hut.
