From Kasern, past beautifully situated alpine farms and grazing cattle, you follow a forest path to the rear of the Kaserertal. There the ascent to the Kaserer Schartl and the Frauenwand begins directly below the rejecting flank of the Kleiner Kaserer. When reaching the mountain ridge, Hintertux and the glacier of the same name also come into view. The trail continues in an arc over the Weiße Wand to the Tuxerjochhaus, beautifully situated on a ridge under the Pfannköpfl. From the sun terrace of the Tuxerjochhaus, you can enjoy a great view of the highest peaks of the Tuxer main ridge, such as the Gefrorene Wand-Spitz, Großer Kaserer and Olperer. The way back to Kasern leads past the reservoir to the Tuxerjoch and from there the newly built bicycle path down to the Kaserertal.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
Starting from the car park in Obern, the trail first leads along an asphalt road to the mountain inn Kasern and from there along the forest path with the number 324 in south-eastern direction to the Kaserertal. After about 1.5km, immediately after passing a martyr, the path splits. Here you turn right, cross a bridge and continue to the end of the valley until you reach the path coming from the Geraerhütte (part of the Peter Habeler Runde). Follow this path in serpentines up the mountain flank on the left side. After about 300 hm of ascent you finally reach the Kaserer Schartl. Here you have a clear view of Hintertux and the Hintertuxer Glacier, which is located on the high plateau between Olperer and Gefrorener Wandspitz. At the Kasererschartl the paths separate again, one leads down to the Sommerbergalm, we take the left one, which leads over the Frauenwand and Weiße Wand to the Tuxerjochhaus. When we reach the Frauenwand, we have also mastered the highest point of the round tour, from now on the path goes almost only downhill. The Tuxerjochhaus itself is located on a ridge in front of the glacier area and invites for food and drinks. After a break and a rest, there is finally the descent to master. To do this, you first pass a storage lake a few metres above sea level to the Tuxerjoch and from there the newly laid out path, which is also very popular with mountain bikers, down to the Kaserertal and to the car park.
