Stage 1: Steinach am Brenner, Middle Station Bergeralm – Trunahütte
Vertical ascent/descent: 860/230 metres, walking time: 3-4 hours, distance: 4 kilometres, highest point: 1,722 metres, difficulty: medium (red path)
Take the lift to the middle station and from there you hike along path nr. 43 to the Gerichtsherralm (mountain pasture) and continue on the small road (nr. 43 and later 125) through the woods until you reach the Trunahütte. Optional: start your hut hike from the bottom station of the Bergeralm and use path nr. 45 to get to the Gerichtsherralm, afterwards continue as above.
Stage 2: Trunahütte - Tribulaunhütte
Vertical ascent/descent: 1,100/750 metres, walking time: 5 hours, distance: 5 kilometres, highest point: 2,540 metres, difficulty: hard (black path)
From the Trunahütte continue on path nr. 125 to the Truna ridge, which is the border to the Obernberg Valley in the south. From there you hike westwards on the rigde and continue on path nr. 94 and later on nr. 38 (also Tiroler Höhenweg) to the Gstrein Jöchl (ridge). This will be the highest point and from the ridge you cross back to the Gschnitztal Valley and descend the last part to the Triublaunhütte.
Stage 3: Tribulaunhütte - Bremer Hütte
Vertical ascent/descent: 1,350/1,050 metres, walking time: 6-7 hours, distance: 9.5 kilometres, highest point: 2,599 metres, difficulty: hard (black path)
Ascent from the Tribulaunhütte in the direction of Sandesjöchl (ridge) and northwards of the Weißwand on the Jubiläumssteig to the Bremer Hütte (2,411 m) – paths no. 63 and then 130 Jubiläumssteig path.
Stage 4: Bremer Hütte - Innsbrucker Hütte
Vertical ascent/descent: 950/1,000 metres, walking time: 6-7 hours, distance: 9 kilometres, highest point: 2,411 metres, difficulty: hard (black path)
From the Bremer Hütte proceed downhill to the Simmingsee (lake) and continue on the Stubaier Höhenweg (nr. 124, high mountain trail), in part uphill and downhill over steep meadows and stony landscape to the Pramarnspitze and further to the Innsbrucker Hütte (2,370 m).
Stage 5: Innsbrucker Hütte - Padasterjochhaus
Vertical ascent/descent: 1,250/1,350 metres, walking time: 7 hours, distance: 9 kilometres, highest point: 2,740 metres, difficulty: hard (black path)
From the Innsbrucker Hütte on path nr 123 downwards into the Pinnis Valley (Stubaital) and between the Karalm and Pinnisalm huts right on the Jubiläumssteig path upwards towards the Kirchdachspitze (2,840) on the Silbersattel and downwards to the Padasterjochhaus. PLEASE NOTE: The ascent from the Pinnis Valley requires absolute sure-footedness and a head for heights. Warning: Slippery when wet!
Stage 6: Padasterjochhaus - Blaser Hütte
Vertical ascent/descent: 850/890 metres, walking time: 5-6 hours, distance: 8 kilometres, highest point: 2,728 metres, difficulty: hard (black path)
From the Padasterjochhaus to the Wasenwand and over different ridges and the Rote Wand to the Kesselspitze (2,728 m). Descent on the path via the Wasenwand to the Kalbenjoch and after a short ascent over the Peilspitze (2,392 m) to the Blaserhütte (2,180 m).
Stage 7: Blaser Hütte - Steinach am Brenner, Bottom Station Bergeralm
Vertical descent: 1,130 metres, walking time: 3 hours, distance: 6 kilometres, highest point: 2,176 metres, difficulty: medium (red path)
Descent from the Blaser Hütte to Trins and on the forest path and meadow trail (nr. 30) along the Gschnitzbach stream back to the bottom station of the Bergeralm Bergbahn in Steinach am Brenner. Alternatively: take the direct descent to Steinach on path nr. 13
