Für die Schwindelfreien führt der Lechweg über die längste und wohl spektakulärste Fußgängerhängebrücke Österreichs. 200,5 Meter lang und 110 Meter hoch überquert sie die Höhenbachschlucht. Wer nicht schwindelfrei ist, wandert die Originalroute in das Höhenbachtal hinein, am Simmswasserfall vorbei bis zur Einkehrmöglichkeit Café Uta. Von dort führt ein Wanderweg hinauf zur Schigge. Sie wandern zum Teil auf Holzstegen über das Landschaftsjuwel Schigge weiter Richtung Bach. Kurz vor Bengler Wald führt Sie der Weg zur Talstation der Jöchelspitzbahn. Nahe der Jöchelspitze befindet sich das Lechtaler Bergheumuseum, das Sie bequem mit der Bergbahn erreichen. Es dokumentiert die beschwerliche Arbeit und die kargen Verhältnisse, unter denen die Tiroler Bergbauern einst lebten.
Auf dem Weg vom Bengler Wald zum Seesumpf führt ein kurzer Abstecher zum sagenumwobenen Modertal-Wasserfall. Am Seesumpf geht es rechter Hand wieder hinein in den Wald. Nach kurzer Gehzeit erreichen Sie eine kleine Kapelle. Von dort führt ein Wanderweg hinunter nach Bach. Zwischen Bach und Elbigenalp liegt auch ein Freischwimmbad mit drei beheizten Becken. Unmittelbar am Lechufer entlang führt Sie der Lechweg von Bach nach Elbigenalp. Um in das Ortszentrum zu gelangen, müssen Sie den Lechweg verlassen.
For those who are not dizzy, the Lechweg takes you over the
longest and probably most spectacular suspension footbridge
in Austria. 200.5 metres long and 110 metres high, it crosses
the Hoehenbachschlucht (gorge). Whoever suffers from dizziness
ought to take the original route into the Hoehenbachtal,
past the Simms Waterfall to the rest station Café Uta. From
there the trail leads up to the »Schigge«.
For part of the way you walk on wooden planks across the
landscape jewel Schigge, in direction Bach. Shortly before the
»Bengler Wald« (wood), the trail heads to the base station of
the chairlift Joechelspitzbahn. Taking the ride up, at the peak
station of the Joechelspitze you find the Lechtal Bergheumuseum
(mountain hay museum). It documents the very laborious
work, and desolate conditions under which the Tyrolean
mountain farmers had to once survive.
Make your way from the Bengler Wood to a short detour towards
»Seesumpf« to the mythical Modertal Waterfall. At Seesumpf
on the right-hand side, the path again leads into the
wood. After a short while, you arrive at a small chapel. From
there the path leads down to the village of Bach. Between
Bach and Elbigenalp there is also an outdoor swimming area
with three heated pools. Directly along the Lech river‘s shore the Lechweg takes you
from Bach to Elbigenalp. You march three kilometers on an
easy trail. To get to the centre of Elbigenalp, you must leave
the Lechweg.
